Manual lymphatic drainage certification
Post-surgical clients arrive frightened, swollen and short on answers. The practitioner who can assess their tissue, position their body, read a compression garment and know precisely when to refer them out is the one their surgeon calls next. This is the 35 hour programme that produces that practitioner.
35 hours of instruction. 51 written lessons across 7 modules. Taught by a team of licensed, insured and certified MLD specialists at our institute in Brooklyn.
What you study
Where this takes you
You are entering the field. What you need is not a weekend of technique clips but the whole picture: the anatomy behind the strokes, the contraindications that decide whether you treat at all, the cushioning for seven different procedures, the room and the supplies, and the bedside manner that turns a first session into a course of care. You finish knowing what to do on day one, and knowing what you must not do.
You already have hands, a table and a client list. What is missing is post-surgical specificity: why a tummy tuck abdomen is worked right to left instead of clockwise, why a towel in week one can burn, why ibuprofen is contraindicated after a fat transfer, and how to calibrate pressure on tissue that was operated on four days ago. That specificity is what a surgeon’s coordinator weighs when they decide who to refer to.
The curriculum
The complete syllabus is published before you pay. Read it, compare it against anything else being sold, and decide with the whole picture in front of you.

Who teaches it
The Magic Post Op team is a group of licensed health professionals, insured and certified as Manual Lymphatic Drainage specialists for post-operative care. We wrote this curriculum out of what we do daily, and we teach the clinical days in the rooms where we treat.
Our philosophy is holistic as well as technical. We are not only interested in whether you can move fluid. We are interested in whether a frightened client in week one feels safe with you, and whether you recognise the moment to stop and send them to a surgeon.
The institute
Magic Post Op NYC Institute, Inc. occupies roughly 1,600 square feet across a duplex in Brooklyn: a reception area, a lower level where lectures are held, and two treatment rooms for the hands-on clinic. Street parking is available for students.

Read before you buy
It is the self-massage regimen you hand to clients for the days between professional sessions: node preparation, the abdominal sequence including the post tummy tuck variation, and the clavicular flush. Create an account and read it. No card, no call.
This programme awards an educational certificate. It is not a massage therapy licence, and it does not confer one.
New York State regulates the practice of massage therapy. Manual lymphatic drainage performed on the public may fall within that regulated scope depending on how you practise and where you practise. Other states, provinces and countries regulate it differently.
You are responsible for confirming and meeting the licensing, registration and insurance requirements that apply where you work, before you accept a client. Nothing we teach overrides those requirements.
Our curriculum is educational information, not medical advice. Clients with medical concerns must be directed to their surgeon or physician.

No. This programme awards an educational certificate, not a massage therapy licence. The Online Theory Certificate gives you the full written curriculum, the chapter quizzes and a Certificate of Completion. The Certified Practitioner tier adds two days of supervised hands-on training at our Brooklyn institute and the practitioner credential that follows it. Everything in the online tier is included in the hybrid tier.
You purchase the Certified Practitioner tier online, then we schedule your two clinical days with you directly, so we can place you in a cohort that fits your travel. Contact us after enrolment and we will confirm dates.
No prior qualification is required to study the material. Many of our students are licensed massage therapists adding post-operative work to an existing practice; others are entering the field. What you need before you take paying clients depends on the rules where you practise, which is the first thing we cover in the mentorship programme.
There is no deadline. Your access to the online curriculum does not expire, and it includes future revisions to the written material. Work through it at the pace your schedule allows.
The full written curriculum is available immediately. Video demonstrations are being filmed and are added to the relevant lessons as they are completed. Your enrolment includes them at no additional cost when they land.
You may cancel for a full refund within seven days of purchase, provided you have not opened any paid course content. Once paid content has been accessed, the material has been delivered and the purchase is final. In-person clinical days that have not yet been scheduled can be refunded separately.
No. It is an optional four-hour add-on delivered as live calls, covering licensing, service design, pricing, marketing and day-to-day operations. It is non-accredited and can be added once you are enrolled in either tier.
Every certificate carries a unique verification code. Anyone can enter that code on our public verification page and see the holder's name, the certificate type and the issue date. Nothing else about you is disclosed.
